Chapter 2 Verse 47

कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन।

मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि॥

karmanye vadhikaraste ma phaleshu kadachana

ma karmaphalaheturbhurma te sango 'stvakarmani

You have a right to perform your prescribed duties, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities, nor be attached to inaction.

Reflection

This is one of the most celebrated verses of the Gita. Lord Krishna teaches that we should focus on our duty (karma) without attachment to outcomes. This principle of selfless action is the foundation of Karma Yoga.
